| | Excellent Online Casinos News Archive| Online Casinos Look to Spain for Future Markets | | | Publication Date: 14 Dec 2006 | | Europe has become a popular choice for online casinos that are seeking other markets for their sites. While online casinos have always, by nature, sought ways to increase their client base, the US Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act forced many online casinos to put their foot on the gas when it came to finding alternative markets. As a result, Europe has been voted one of the key target destinations for these businesses and, out of all these countries, Spain is a popular choice.
In recent years, several of Spain’s regions have softened their stance against gambling and a liberal wind is blowing through the country. Online casinos are already eyeing positive economic trend estimates, which show that by 2010 the Spanish gambling market will grow to around 40-billion GB Pounds. Online casinos therefore feel that Spain is a particularly attractive jurisdiction for future expansion. A recent report, undertaken by the consulting firm, MECN, shows that online casinos and traditional casinos alike should seriously consider the growing potential of the Spanish market.
Already, gambling is beginning to take off in Spain, although less so in online casinos circles. Some British land-based gambling companies have already set foot in the local market, and others are following suit. It is only a question of time before the first online casinos start appearing on the Spanish horizon.
